Grants for arts writers – Creative Capital and the Warhol Foundation

Deadline:  May 15, 2013

Grants for published arts writers

The Creative Capital | Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant Program supports writers whose work addresses contemporary visual art through project-based grants, ranging from USD3,000 to 50,000, issued directly to individual authors. The first programme of its type, it was founded in recognition of both the financially precarious situation of arts writers and their indispensable contribution to a vital artistic culture.

Description

The Arts Writers Grant Program aims to support the broad spectrum of writing on contemporary visual art, from general-audience criticism to academic scholarship. Writers who meet the programme’s eligibility requirements are invited to apply in the following categories:

  • articles
  • blogs
  • books
  • new and alternative media
  • short-form writing

To be eligible for a grant, writers must be

  • an individual.
  • an art historian, artist, critic, curator, journalist, or practitioner in an outside field who is strongly engaged with the contemporary visual arts.
  • at least 25 years old.
  • a published author. Please note that work published in college newspapers and undergraduate student-run publications will not be considered toward this requirement.
