We have an excellent opportunity for a Curator in our Visual Arts department to promote the innovation, diversity, creativity and excellence of British visual arts in the context of the British Council’s cultural relations remit.

The successful candidate must be able to implement international and some UK based touring exhibitions and professional development projects; maintain knowledge of a wide cross-section of visual arts activity and develop and sustain relationships with key practitioners, organisations, networks and opinion formers in the UK and overseas.

You will  work as a member of the Exhibitions team in the development and implementation of a programme of international projects and exhibitions which appropriately contribute to the British Council’s objectives. You will contribute to the programme of touring exhibitions, working with both overseas curators and/or UK based curators. You will lead on the implementation of an agreed set of exhibition projects and related activities such as research visits. You will contribute to the identification, management and development of new relationships, partnerships and opportunities, particularly those that promote British modern and contemporary art, and the work of the British Council, to new and larger audiences both in the UK and abroad

We require the successful candidate to demonstrate extensive experience within the professional visual arts/museum sector, organising/curating visual arts exhibitions and to be able to work efficiently and collaboratively in a team.
