An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic Curator to join the visual arts team at Barbican, a world renowned multi-disciplinary art centre.

The visual arts are crucially important to Barbican’s success. The Art Gallery is dedicated to the presentation of exhibitions covering modern and contemporary art, design/architecture and photography, whereas The Curve is devoted to the commissioning of large scale site specific installations by contemporary artists. The Barbican aims to serve both artists and audiences and excels in the presentation of exhibitions that are thoughtful, curatorially ambitious and often focus on timely reassessments and inter-disciplinary practice.

The new Curator will join a high achieving team, realising our widely acclaimed exhibitions and Curve commissions, occasional off-site projects, international partnerships and public talks and events programme.

We are looking for someone with an exceptional knowledge of 20th century as well as contemporary art, with a further demonstrable interest in design, architecture and cross-disciplinary practice more generally. Crucially, you will have an established and well received track record of curating and managing loan-based exhibitions in a public institution, as well as an international network of contacts.

You will have a love of working with artists, as well as a desire to curate exhibitions that are groundbreaking but which also appeal to a broad audience, combined with impressive communication and organisational skills and the commitment and drive to deliver projects that exceed expectations at all levels.

You can find further information about the Barbican at www.barbican.org.uk.
