The Curatorial Department is responsible for devising and delivering Tate Britain’s programme of exhibitions and displays, for contributing to Tate’s acquisition programme, researching the Collection, and for fostering the study of British Art. This post will assist and support the work of the Curatorial Department, devising and playing a key role in the organization of Tate Britain displays and exhibitions relating to the modern period, and occasionally more widely. It will contribute to the development, study, care and presentation of the collection of Modern British Art, dealing with acquisitions, research and publishing, displays and exhibitions, and specialist enquiries.

You will need a degree or post-graduate degree in art history or a related field, along with a broad knowledge of twentieth-century art, and demonstrable relevant work experience working with displays, exhibitions or a permanent collection. You will also need specialist knowledge of at least some aspect of the area that the post covers: Modern British Art.

In addition, you will need excellent writing, research, and organisational skills. Your well-developed interpersonal skills will enable you to work effectively as part of a team and collaboratively across and beyond Tate. You will also be able to prioritise your work to meet deadlines, and maintain your attention to detail under pressure.
