We are seeking a Keeper of Design, Architecture and Digital to join the Design, Architecture and Digital Department.

In a desire to improve the Museum’s coverage of and engagement with the contemporary cultures of design, a new Department of Design, Architecture and Digital (DAD) was established in 2015. The new department was designed to stimulate new modes of collecting, curation and public engagement, and to consolidate the V&A’s reputation as the UK’s leading public resource for contemporary design and its impact on society.

As the Department’s head and most senior curator, you will be responsible for all aspects of the Department’s activities, including policy, strategy, and planning. You will manage its curatorial activities, defining and developing key areas of expertise that will lead to stronger understanding of contemporary and historic design practices. You will consider how design, architecture and digital impact upon other Museum collecting areas as well as on society as a whole.

The Department has a crucial role to play in a number of the Museum’s most exciting projects, including the refresh of 20 th and 21 st -century galleries, partnerships with the Venice Biennale and London Design Festival, the development of the V&A Research Institute and the creation of a new museum and collections centre on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in East London.
